They Both have their Merits, and I love the Painted look as well, it has a certain charm all it's own..

What i have been doing lately is using the painted look for skin tones.. and the Cell shaded for everything else.. except some types of metal which I go back to the painted look..

it is all very convoluted..

but what ever tools you like and need to convey the power of an image is your choice my brother..

I like just about everything you put out, so I'm cool..

Thanks, Adam. Glad you're still interested in what I'm doing. The problem I'm having is that I feel the Painted look should be better than the cel shade...and it's really not. As you said they both have their merits. So I guess I have to learn to make the painted look simply painted and lose the lines completely. As yet I haven't done it yet but I'm nearly there.

Nice job. I like both versions of these, but I think I like this painted one a little more.
